Implementation of the Hierarchical Analytical Process in the Selection of the Best Source of Renewable Energy in the Colombian Caribbean Region

In this study, the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) methodology is implemented to provide decision criteria in selection, planning, and development of electric power generation projects from renewable energy sources Caribbean region Colombia. Six energy; biomass combustion; anaerobic digestion biomass; biogas landfills; waste incineration; Photovoltaic solar thermal radiation were considered study due their potential rural areas not interconnected national electricity system. To determine order priority conversion technologies, a questionnaire was developed sent group experts. Given need generate sustainably, information analyzed under four main criteria: technical, environmental, social, economic. Sixteen additional sub-criteria selected based on literature review. general, economic criterion most relevant area high investment operating costs generation. The social highlights opportunity create new jobs, while environmental component substitution energy, key aspect diversification matrix, which part country's political agenda. Regarding technological component, photovoltaic seems favorable its low impact considerable reduction prices experienced by panel market recent years.
